Feedback from todays session....

We had to show our promotional packs today and then give each other feedback. Below I have included a few of the key things my fellow students had to say.

Feedback:
What does work say about designer?
1. A fan of bright colours and interest in both illustration (surface pattern) and type. Packaging extraordinaire!
2. Very craft based. Also comes across a little 'arty' illustration/fine art, is this what you want?

5 strengths in the work...
1. very consistent branding, CV is a good idea, high impact at initial viewing, well contained and compacted and very unique format.
2. Compact is nice when closed, like that there is a CV, nice idea! Good idea to put the business card in the back, although I feel as I dont want to take it away, perhaps at front using your branding.

5 weaknesses....
1. Needs a blog address/website. Fastening on circle book could be reconsidered. Mock-up print finish is a bit smudged. Darker stock is quite washed out.
2. Not sure if pattern is a little distracting.

5 ways in which it could be improved...
1. Purple and red cards have higher impact. Card at front of booklet? Experiment with double sides in booklet. Experiment with format, circle is very irregular!
2. Circular booklet could be finished better. Perhaps square shape to structure out packet. Get more detail and layout would be better giving more impact of work.

I found this process very useful and it has highlighted some issues for me to work through. Including, the paper stock; cost; and mass producing.

I am so pleased with the overall pack, however the above issues are definitely something to consider. I am now going to look at producing a cheaper pack that still contains all the elements and styles, however will be cheaper and easier to produce. That way I could keep this design/pack for key companies I really want to target and then the other style could be a more general one for everyone.

So basically, summing up....
1. Look at paper stock - white is the way forward though
2. Look at ways of reducing print costs.
3. Produce a simple variation
4. Rearrange the booklet; placing the business card at the front end.
5. Try and place blog address on
6. Try the eyelet machine for the booklet.
